CivAI is working with EduGPT towards the Edu-V quality mark: what does that mean for your school? | CivAI News

CivAI has started the process with EduGPT to work towards obtaining the Edu-V quality mark. With this step, CivAI is committing itself to the latest sector agreements in the areas of privacy, information security, interoperability, and reliable chain integration within Dutch education.

Edu-V is the joint framework of agreements between schools and suppliers in primary and secondary education. The aim is to make digital educational resources safer, more reliable, and easier to use. For CivAI, this aligns seamlessly with the mission behind EduGPT: a human-centred, secure, and European AI platform for education, in which teachers, staff, pupils, students, and school boards can use AI responsibly.

Secure AI, seamless integration, and maximum control for schools

For schools and school boards, this step towards the Edu-V quality mark means even greater assurance. EduGPT has been developed on the principle that AI in education is not about quick answers or replacing the teacher, but about supporting thinking, learning, feedback, preparation, and professional judgement.

This requires a solid technical and legal foundation. Think of secure connections with existing educational systems, clear agreements about data processing, transparency in use, and maximum protection of pupil/student and staff data.

“Especially in an era of AI, schools must be able to trust that technology is not only powerful and innovative, but also used safely, explainably, and responsibly,” says Pascal Mariany, CEO and co-founder of CivAI.

“With EduGPT, we are building an AI platform that aligns with the values of education: human control, privacy, transparency, didactic quality, and European digital sovereignty. Working towards the Edu-V quality mark is therefore a logical and important step for us.”

What does this mean for schools?

Greater assurance during implementation
By adhering to sector agreements and open standards, it becomes easier to integrate EduGPT safely and carefully within existing educational environments.

Better assurance of privacy and information security
The Edu-V process helps schools, administrators, and Data Protection Officers to gain better insight in advance into privacy, data exchange, and security measures.

Reduced administrative burden
When suppliers can demonstrably comply with central sector standards, schools need to spend less time on separate technical checks, additional questionnaires, and repeated assessment processes.

Better integration with educational processes
EduGPT is intended as an AI companion for teachers, staff, pupils, students, and education professionals. Think of support with lesson preparation, feedback, assessment, research projects, AI literacy, and policy development. Good interoperability makes this support practically usable within the daily educational context.

Human control remains central
EduGPT is not a system that takes over education. On the contrary, it supports education professionals in their expertise. The teacher, mentor, or school always remains in control.

The process towards Edu-V has now been set in motion. CivAI expects to take further steps towards audit and compliance in the coming period, so that schools can use EduGPT with even greater confidence.
