CivAI provides benefit masterclass for Bergh in het Zadel
On 11 March, Daniel Verloop and Pascal Mariany, on behalf of CivAI, delivered a charity masterclass on AI for entrepreneurs and professionals. The entire proceeds from the event were donated to the Bergh in het Zadel Foundation, which is committed to scientific cancer research. The event raised €5,260.
The meeting took place in the Nedcon Lounge at De Graafschap and was organised in collaboration with Jordi Buiting from Campera Camperverhuur, Niels Snelder from Bergh in het Zadel, and various involved partners. During the afternoon, participants received a practical introduction to both the possibilities and risks of artificial intelligence.
From Hype to Practice
AI has now become indispensable in organisations. However, in practice, many companies are still searching for a responsible way to deploy AI.
During the masterclass, Daniel and Pascal demonstrated how organisations can use AI for productivity, knowledge sharing, automation, and support of daily tasks. Various AI tools and AI agents were discussed, as well as practical examples from education, government, and business sectors.
In addition to the opportunities, considerable attention was also given to topics such as:
AI literacy
privacy and data protection
hallucinating AI systems
deepfakes and disinformation
the European AI Act
responsible use of AI within organisations
AI literacy as a foundation
An important theme during the afternoon was the importance of AI literacy.
"AI is not a magical solution. The quality of the outcome is largely determined by the quality of the question, the context, and the critical thinking skills of the user," said Daniel Verloop.
Pascal Mariany emphasised that AI literacy is not just a topic for organisations, but for everyone.
"From primary school pupils to professionals. Anyone who wants to use AI responsibly must understand how these systems work, where the risks lie, and how to keep thinking critically."
From CivAI, Daniel and Pascal support organisations with safe AI implementation, training, and guidance regarding AI literacy. In education, this is done, among other things, through EduGPT, CivAI's European AI environment for schools, colleges, and universities.
European and Safe AI
The session also addressed digital sovereignty and safe AI infrastructure.
CivAI consciously opts for a European approach, with privacy, transparency, and governance at its core. This gives organisations access to powerful AI solutions without being dependent on uncontrolled data flows or unclear regulations.
AI as a Companion
The afternoon concluded with a joint conclusion:
AI does not replace people. However, it does change the way we work, learn, and collaborate.
Those who learn to use AI as a companion rather than a replacement expand their possibilities, work more efficiently, and at the same time retain human control.
Word of Thanks
We would like to thank the Bergh in het Zadel Foundation, all participants, sponsors, and volunteers for their involvement and enthusiasm. It was inspiring to see how a topical theme such as AI can be used to share knowledge and at the same time contribute to an important social cause.
Together, we are building a future in which technology, humanity, and social impact go hand in hand.
