Number of Tutoring Companies More Than Doubled in Ten Years: Why We Are Building EduGPT | CivAI News

The number of tutoring companies in the Netherlands has more than doubled in ten years: from 1,942 in 2014 to 4,822 now. This is evident from Chamber of Commerce figures reported by De Telegraaf today. The growth is mainly concentrated in the Randstad, with North Holland leading the way (1,116 companies).

Tutoring costs an average of 40 to 60 euros per hour. Extra explanations, exam training and self-confidence are therefore primarily available to pupils whose parents can afford it. The Education Council already referred to this as "shadow education" in 2021. The Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis warns that the tutoring industry threatens to undermine public education.

Tutoring quality should not be a luxury product

We believe things can be different. That’s why we are building EduGPT, an AI study coach purchased by the school, so every pupil receives 24/7 help with homework and targeted feedback on their work. Not just the pupil whose parents can afford it.

  • Formative feedback, built on our research since the Feedback Companion
  • The teacher remains in control and can see where pupils are struggling
  • Hosted in Europe, GDPR-compliant, no big tech reading along

Tutoring quality should not be a luxury product. It belongs to good education. Would you like to know what EduGPT can do for your school? Visit edugpt.nl or contact us.
