OrgGPT now collaborates within your own Google Workspace

OrgGPT now collaborates within your own Google Workspace | CivAI News

What if your AI assistant simply works alongside you in the environment you spend your whole day in? With OrgGPT, that’s now possible. You connect OrgGPT to your own Google Workspace and then the assistant works with you in Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, and Tasks.

In a short knowledge clip of one and a half minutes, I show how it works. Everything is recorded live in OrgGPT, using fictional data from an imaginary organisation.

What you see in the knowledge clip

  • Activating Google Workspace via MCP servers, logging in once with your own Google account.

  • Searching for and summarising a one-pager in Drive into a new Google Doc, in the same folder.

  • Converting a spreadsheet with key figures into a presentation in Google Slides, with a title slide and table.

  • Viewing next week’s calendar, scheduling a two-hour focus block, and adding action points to a task list.

  • Preparing an email as a draft, which you then send yourself.

  • Using Document Creation to directly generate a Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or PDF file.

  • Building your own AI Companion with Google Workspace included, such as a planning assistant for your team.

How it works

The connection runs via an MCP server, an open standard that allows an AI assistant to safely communicate with other systems. In OrgGPT, you open the MCP servers menu, tick Google Workspace, and log in once with your own Google account.

Each employee connects their own account. OrgGPT only sees what you yourself can see, and nothing from colleagues. The demo in the clip runs on GLM 5.3, an open model that we host at Scaleway in Europe.

What can the assistant do? Here’s a selection.

  • Search, read, and summarise emails in Gmail, write drafts, and manage labels.

  • Search, create, move, and import files in Drive.

  • Create, read, and update documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in Docs, Sheets, and Slides, including Word files from Drive.

  • Create forms and read out the responses.

  • Read and schedule appointments in Calendar, check availability, and plan focus blocks.

  • Manage tasks and contacts.

It gets really interesting when you combine things. Retrieve the latest emails about a project and put the key points in a document in the right folder. Or read a spreadsheet and turn it into a short presentation.

You stay in control

An assistant that can access your mail and calendar needs to know its boundaries. That’s why we’ve built in a few fixed rules.

  • Sending emails is not possible. OrgGPT prepares a draft, you send it yourself from Gmail.

  • Sharing with others does not happen from the chat.

  • For appointments with others, or when changing or deleting, OrgGPT first asks for confirmation.

  • The content of emails and documents is information, not a command. If an email contains an instruction, OrgGPT will not simply carry it out.

Not just Google

Does your organisation use Microsoft 365 or Nextcloud? That works just as well. Via MCP servers, we also connect OrgGPT to those environments, and to other systems your organisation uses. This way, the assistant works where your people already work, without you having to switch platforms.

Why this matters

A lot of time is spent searching, retyping, and summarising. An assistant that looks along in your own environment takes that work away, while people still make the decisions. Especially in an age of AI, you want this to happen on a platform you control yourself, hosted in Europe.
