Sustainability is not a side issue, but a necessity

Sustainability is a topic that we take very seriously within CivAI. Our infrastructure runs, among other things, on the European cloud environment of Scaleway, a provider that places great importance on transparency regarding energy consumption, CO₂ emissions, and sustainable data centre operations.

In addition, we actively follow developments and recommendations from the education sector. Research by Kennisnet, among others, into the impact of AI on sustainability has helped us to further refine guidelines and design choices within EduGPT, GovGPT, OrgGPT and CareGPT. Based on this, we are currently working on functionalities that will provide users with greater insight into the energy impact of AI usage, for example at the level of individual chat conversations.

Sustainability does not stand alone for us. In our training and professionalisation programmes, we explicitly pay attention to ethics, sustainability, inclusivity, AI literacy and responsible use of AI.
